Darlene Price discovered her creative spirit in the art and science classrooms of Central High School, where her passion for expression became a source of upliftment and healing. A proud West End native, Central was a launching pad for academic growth, introducing her to the Rhode Island College Preparatory Enrollment Program. That summer initiative sparked a path that led to advanced studies in the University of Rhode Island master’s program and paralegal certification from Roger Williams University.
As a longtime City of Providence and State of Rhode Island employee, her public service career includes roles in federal, state, and city government—as a cartographer, city planner, and policy/contract manager—where she focused on housing rehabilitation, homelessness, and lead hazard abatement. Her talent for building coalitions and managing programs has earned her the respect of housing leaders, partners, and stakeholders across Rhode Island.
Now serving as Treasurer of the Alumni Association, Darlene brings both institutional knowledge and a forward-thinking vision. She is a conduit for community connection, helping expand alumni engagement to include recent graduates and those who carry the spirit of Central in their hearts. Her message to current students and alumni alike: membership isn’t defined by years—only by your love for Central High.
Outside of her professional work, Darlene resides in East Providence and shares her creativity through part-time roles at the Saint Martin de Porres Center as a diamond art and line-dance instructor, continuing to inspire joy and movement in her community.
“At Central, we all belong. If you carry the spirit, you’re family.”
